This is the first band that I was involved in that had real potential. The sound was a collective of various influences previously ignored in the prior projects attempted with these individuals. Probably one of the first local aggressive moody electro gothic bands to be found in St. Louis. It fell apart, and I blame this mostly on a sense of insecurity created by the mass media trend setting machine. The new flavor of the day was grunge, my bandmates were hooked, and the band gradually lost it's identity, along with it's foundation. I disagreed with their directions, but I understood the cause, and ultimately felt a sad sense of pity for them. They were way too late to jump their chosen bandwagons. I stuck around for a while, until an incident with a car accident, and took that as a good time to part ways, citing [what were real] financial difficulties. They went on to be signed, and recorded a CD, and I was so saddened when I heard it. It was in my opinion, a very uninspired mess. Something that I had put a lot of time and feeling into had become an exercise in directionless futility. Beyond this, the rest of what I could say about this is cold and mean spirited and best left in the past. I'm doing what I want to do now, and that's the important thing. It will probably always be in the back of my mind to do some recording of the original ideas of Tribes With Knives. Who knows, maybe someday when I can afford it and have the time... |
